Description
The Rockpool House sits directly on the shoreline at Thalpe, on Sri Lanka's south coast, with the water's edge close enough that guests can watch sea turtles feeding just beyond the garden most mornings. The villa looks out over the natural rock pools that give this stretch of coast its name, and the infinity pool at the front of the property is angled to blur the line between the villa and the ocean beyond it. Galle Fort is a short fifteen to twenty minute drive away, along with some of the south coast's best-known surf breaks, making the house a comfortable base for exploring while still feeling private and removed from it all.
Inside, the design favours clean architectural lines paired with warm, thoughtfully curated interiors, a version of barefoot luxury that feels considered rather than staged. Natural materials and coastal tones run through the five bedrooms and the open living and dining spaces, which fold outward onto covered terraces so that indoor and outdoor living are never far apart. The house comfortably sleeps up to sixteen guests, making it well suited to multi-generational family trips, milestone celebrations, or groups of friends travelling together who want their own rooms but shared spaces to gather in.
A dedicated office nook gives guests who need to stay connected a quiet place to work without leaving the property, while a stocked bar with a wine fridge, a smart TV, and generous indoor and outdoor dining areas cover the rest of a typical day. The villa is fully staffed, with a private chef available to prepare meals to the group's taste and a villa team on hand for daily cleaning, laundry, and day-to-day support, backed by 24/7 assistance for anything guests need during their stay. WiFi and secure parking are included throughout.
The Rockpool House is built for slow mornings by the water and long, unhurried evenings afterward, a place where the rock pools, the tide, and the villa's own quiet rhythm set the pace of the stay, rather than a packed itinerary.
