Four Ocean-Facing Suites
Every bedroom at Myla faces the Indian Ocean. There is no garden-view compromise room, no suite at the back that someone in the group has to be talked into, all four are air-conditioned, all four look out at the water, and each is built around a bespoke four-poster super-king bed with its own ensuite bathroom. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms, sleeping eight.
What makes the layout genuinely useful is how the suites pair up. Anahata, the master, adjoins Ajna, which is the arrangement parents with younger children look for and rarely find: two full suites, connected, so nobody is down a corridor or on another floor. At the other end of the villa, Manipura, the second master, adjoins Sahasrara in a separate wing, giving that pair the choice of connected rooms or entirely private quarters depending on who's travelling.
The practical effect is that Myla works for two families sharing, for a group of four couples, or for three generations, without anyone drawing the short straw. Each suite has its own character, a soothing palette in one, monochrome with aqua in another, bold photographic artworks in the third, brightly hued furnishings in the fourth, so guests tend to develop a favourite and ask for it on the return visit.
The Infinity Pool and Direct Beach Access
The infinity pool is the centre of the villa: a stretch of water that appears to merge straight into the turquoise ocean, set on a terrace that opens onto Rathgama beach. It faces west, which on this coast means the sunsets arrive directly in front of you rather than off to one side.
What sets Myla apart from most villas marketed as beachfront is that the claim is literal. The garden simply gives way to the sand, you step off the lawn and you're on the beach, whether that's for an early swim, a long walk in either direction, or a slow afternoon moving between the pool and the sea. Rathgama's beach is a quiet, golden stretch with none of the crowds you'll find a few kilometres north at Hikkaduwa, so in practice it functions as your own.
Dining and the Private Chef
Myla comes with a private chef who cooks Sri Lankan and international menus around the freshest local produce and the day's catch, landed by the fishing boats along this coast. Menus are personalised rather than fixed: the kitchen works to your group's preferences, dietary requirements and children's tastes, and meals are served wherever suits, poolside, on the terrace, or indoors.
Because the villa is managed rather than simply let, the practical side is handled too. Housekeeping, provisioning, transfers, drivers and excursions are all arranged by the team, so there is nothing to organise once you arrive beyond deciding what time you'd like breakfast.
Living Spaces, Games Room and Library
Beyond the four suites, Myla has generous open living areas, a dedicated games room and a cozy library, and this is what makes it genuinely good for multi-generational travel rather than just nominally family friendly. There is somewhere for the children to disappear to, somewhere quiet for grandparents to read, and somewhere everyone comes together in the evening.
It also means the villa holds up when the weather doesn't. On the south-west coast, an afternoon of monsoon rain is part of the deal between May and September and having proper indoor space to spend it in matters more than most listings admit.
Where Myla Is, and What to Do Nearby
Myla sits on the coast at Rathgama, roughly ten kilometres north of Galle and a few minutes south of Hikkaduwa, a location that puts three quite different kinds of day within easy reach.
Galle Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site with its colonial streets, ramparts, galleries, boutiques and restaurants, is about 20 minutes down the coast road [confirm your usual quoted time]. In the other direction, Hikkaduwa offers the coral sanctuary, snorkelling and glass-bottom boats, along with a well-known sea turtle hatchery just north of town.
Closest of all is Ratgama Lake, a brackish mangrove lagoon barely two kilometres inland. Boat and kayak trips run from Dodanduwa through the mangroves and out to the small islands, including Polgasduwa, the forest hermitage where Buddhist monks still meditate in seclusion. You'll see monitor lizards, fruit bats and an enormous range of birdlife, and the trips can be combined with a visit to a working cinnamon farm, the sort of morning most visitors to Sri Lanka never find, ten minutes from the villa gate.
Further afield, Unawatuna and Jungle Beach are around fifteen minutes, and the surf and whale-watching of Weligama and Mirissa are a comfortable drive south. Colombo airport is roughly two hours north via the Southern Expressway.

The adjoining Anahata and Ajna suites make Myla particularly easy for parents with younger children, the games room and library keep mixed-age groups happy, and the direct, safe beach access is the reason families book it in the first place.

I had a wonderful 1 week stay at the villa. It was an unforgettable experience and would highly recommend to anyone.
The staff were hospitable, the food was delicious and varied, and the design of the villa was very luxurious. The highlight for me has to be the location though. It is located next to the most private beach I have ever seen and the view of the sunsets were unbelievable.
Absolutely stunning villa! Do not hesitate to stay here during your visit to Galle and use it as your base to explore. Highlights include: the fabulous infinity pool with gorgeous sunset views. Beautifully appointed bedrooms with very comfortable beds and balcony overlooking the beach. Delicious breakfasts and home cooked meals. Every meal was beautifully presented and fresh tasting. Games room with the pool table was great for fun family evenings. Massages on the balcony with the sea breeze. Staff are friendly, so helpful and welcoming. We left feeling relaxed and nourished. Loved every moment!
Incredible house and stay. We were here for a week and could not have hoped for anything better. The house itself is amazing - so much space, so many corners for people to have their own privacy in their stunningly designed rooms. The facilities add to that, including the pool table and library and plenty of spaces for games. Then there is the pool - huge and perfect in every way. The cooking and house staff were fantastic too - so flexible on accommodating all requests and different types of flavour (including Sri Lankan and western dishes). I will miss our morning hoppers for breakfast overlooking the pool..

As a retreat Facilitator, Myla Villa to be the perfect place to hold a retreat. The location is easy to get to (2 hour drive on good roads) from Colombo Airport. Being right on the beach front provides a naturally peaceful environment. The Villa is so well designed for retreats: with so many options for classes, workshops and more - the lawn, the beach, covered outdoor spaces and indoor spaces.
The accommodation is spectacularly comfortable and private and the food was heavenly. The staff are attentive yet also quietly respect your privacy. The attention to detail in every aspect of the villa and service makes it a wonderful getaway.

eyond beautiful villa on a private expanse of beach only 15 minutes north of Galle. There is not a soul to be seen on a couple of kilometers of pristine sand. The villa is immaculately designed. There is a little yoga house where classes are curated by local yoga professionals. The bedrooms are more than spacious. It is the perfect place for a quiet retreat. The chef’s food is just the right balance for everyone’s palate, spicey and non-spicey alike. You have to try the local coconut pannacotta dessert, definitely my new fave.
In one word the whole experience was FABULOUS! From the villa (stunning decor and spacious rooms), to staff, service and surrounding environment - everything was perfect. I recently spent a long weekend with family and friends and we had a wonderful time - spending most of our holiday at the villa as it had everything we needed. The standout for us though was the Chef - who was incredibly patient with all our different requests (from kids to grand parents) and each meal was divine! We can’t wait to go back!!

The villa sits practically on a very clean and deserted beachfront with great views of the sea from our tastefully furnished room. The villa was very spacious and thoughtfully decorated for a relaxed stay and has a beautiful pool in the front.The staff were very attentive to all our needs and the chef cooked up some delightful Sri Lankan meals.

Myla Beach Villa is absolutely stunning in every way, it is secluded off the main road, beach fronted and just a short tuk tuk ride to Galle Fort. Every detail has been carefully thought through from the beautiful and comfortable furnishings in the bedrooms to the common areas. The staff are warm and welcoming and the on-site chef is just incredible. It is a calming haven, whether you want to relax by the stunning pool or on your own balcony or explore the local delights of Southern Sri Lanka, I cannot recommend Myla enough.

We took a family holiday at Myla Beach Villa and were delighted with the experience. The
property is large, the setting idyllic and the beach practically deserted. We found the staff helpful and caring, the chef did a great job catering to our various wants and the peace and calm really helped make the holiday restful and intimate. Just what we needed for a relaxed family vacation. Would highly recommend it for a trip with friends or family.
Stayed for 2 weeks with family, and had the most incredible time. We were so well looked after everyday, and the staff were super friendly and helped out with our kids. The chef was also incredible, and could cook whatever we requested (Sri Lankan or Western) to a really high standard with great presentation. Even our fussy kids loved the food! The villa was right on the beach, so we could do sunrise / sunset walks each day. Rooms were super comfortable and very highly maintained, as was the entire villa. We never needed to leave as there was lots to do, and we loved playing on the pool table most afternoons. Thank you to the team for a really memorable stay, we will definitely be back!
