Kaha Gedara combines traditional and contemporary design elements, as evidenced by hand-crafted furniture, hand-finished floors, and simple tropical architecture made entirely of local materials.
The house is about 20 meters above sea level and is built around a central paved courtyard. A large covered veranda with an adjoining kitchen, an open veranda for sunbathing, and a 6 x 10 metre swimming pool flank the courtyard on two sides. The infinity edge of the pool faces directly south through the coconut trees and out over the surf to the horizon.
The main covered veranda is the focal point of the house, with a dining area next to the Koi fish pond and large sofas for relaxing at the south end, overlooking the terrace, pool, and ocean beyond.
The bedrooms are light and airy, with polished concrete floors and handcrafted furniture made of local teak and mango. Thick 12" mattresses and fine linen are placed on eye-catching, under-lit polished concrete beds that are topped with massive mosquito nets. Each room has a variety of thick white towels, colored beach towels, and a large number of flowers.
The house has high-speed Wi-Fi and a 3G signal. All bedrooms are equipped with mosquito nets, fans, and air conditioning. On the veranda, there is a high-quality amplifier and wall speakers for ipods and other devices with Bluetooth connectivity.
