Beach Haven is located on the southern extremity of the island, just outside the town of Matara, and is one of the most beautiful and appealing beach villas in the South.

Beach Haven is named after the expatriate owners' three children and is designed in the vernacular style of the property's original Dutch owner. The owners have transformed the once-simple home into the lovely beach retreat that it is today. While retaining major characteristics of the original Dutch-style cottage, such as a sweeping veranda and high ceilings throughout, Beach Haven combines modern flourishes with Sri Lanka's rich antiquity.

Beach Haven was constructed to honor the past while also savoring the beauty of the contemporary site, using antiques acquired from all throughout Sri Lanka. With wifi available throughout the house, Beach Haven caters to the needs of modern tourists. There are also DVD players and a sound system available.

The two-story home was created with family and friends in mind, without compromising personal space. The ground level has two bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. The "Poolside" bedroom connects to the living area and has views of the pool and garden that continue all the way to the Indian Ocean, which is literally right outside your door.

The "Courtyard" bedroom, with a separate entrance from the verandah, offers the seclusion of its own open air private courtyard, ideal for sitting with a book and a cup of tea, or showering off after a late afternoon dip in the surf. The "Loft" is located upstairs and is a unique and expansive open plan living area with its own exterior entrance that is ideal for a young family - or a terrific location for the kids to bunk while the parents enjoy the privacy of downstairs! With views of the pool, beach, and ocean, the Loft is a true gem that distinguishes Beach Haven from your average "tropical villa."

The home is positioned above a hidden beach, which may be reached by a private staircase in the coconut grove. With perfect waves breaking over sandbars just a short paddle from the shore, the beach is one of the most popular in the area for surfing.

A beach vacation would be incomplete without delicious meals. With markets in Matara selling locally caught seafood and fresh produce, as well as sophisticated supermarkets, the crew at Beach Haven can prepare unforgettable breakfast, lunch, and supper feasts.
